Can anybody elaborate on the coil winding? I looked over this with an expert in electronics, but we are not sure about the turns and rows...
Any info is greatly appreciated.
2nd - any answer to how to bind the tubes in series? I can only think of a parallel combination...

The tubes can be connected in series as well, but you will have to use higher voltage.
The parallel setup requires less voltage.
